¡Ese bollo no! / Not that bun

En un encantador pueblo español, el señor Smith, un inglés amante de la aventura, decidió pasar unas vacaciones explorando España. Un día, mientras paseaba por las estrechas calles empedradas del pueblo, se dio cuenta de que tenía un hambre voraz.

In a charming Spanish village, Mr. Smith, an adventure-loving Englishman, decided to spend his vacation exploring Spain. One day, as he wandered through the narrow cobbled streets of the village, he realized he was ravenously hungry.

Decidió entrar en una pequeña panadería local, donde el delicioso aroma a pan recién horneado lo recibió cálidamente. Al entrar, saludó al panadero con entusiasmo.

He decided to step into a small local bakery, where the delicious smell of freshly baked bread greeted him warmly. Upon entering, he greeted the baker enthusiastically.

"¡Hola, buenos días!" dijo el señor Smith en su mejor español.

"Hello, good morning!" said Mr. Smith in his best Spanish.

El panadero, sonriendo, le devolvió el saludo. "¡Buenos días! ¿En qué puedo ayudarte?"

The baker, smiling, returned the greeting. "Good morning! How can I help you?"

El señor Smith, con su estómago rugiendo de hambre, apuntó hacia una bandeja de deliciosos bollos rellenos de crema. "Quiero uno de esos, por favor", dijo con una sonrisa.

Mr. Smith, with his stomach growling with hunger, pointed to a tray of delicious cream-filled buns. "I'll have one of those, please," he said with a smile.

El panadero asintió y le entregó un bollo envuelto en papel de estraza. "Aquí tienes, disfrútalo."

The baker nodded and handed him a bun wrapped in brown paper. "Here you go, enjoy."

El señor Smith, emocionado, pagó y salió de la panadería con su tesoro recién adquirido. Sin embargo, al desenvolver el bollo y darle un mordisco, se dio cuenta de que algo no estaba bien.

Mr. Smith, excited, paid and left the bakery with his newly acquired treasure. However, as he unwrapped the bun and took a bite, he realized something was amiss.

En lugar del dulce relleno de crema que esperaba, encontró un montón de papel arrugado dentro del bollo. Confundido, regresó a la panadería y mostró el bollo al panadero.

Instead of the sweet cream filling he expected, he found a pile of crumpled paper inside the bun. Confused, he returned to the bakery and showed the bun to the baker.

"¡Perdón, pero hay un error!", exclamó el señor Smith. "Este bollo está lleno de papel en lugar de crema."

"Sorry, but there's a mistake!" exclaimed Mr. Smith. "This bun is filled with paper instead of cream."

El panadero miró el bollo con sorpresa y luego se echó a reír. "¡Oh, lo siento mucho! ¡Pensé que querías un bollo relleno de papel, como los que usamos para empacar!"

The baker looked at the bun with surprise and then burst into laughter. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I thought you wanted a bun filled with paper, like the ones we use for packaging!"

El señor Smith también se rió ante el malentendido. "¡No, no, definitivamente quería uno con crema de verdad! Pero no te preocupes, todos cometemos errores."

Mr. Smith also laughed at the misunderstanding. "No, no, I definitely wanted one with real cream! But don't worry, we all make mistakes."

El panadero, avergonzado, le ofreció un verdadero bollo relleno de crema como disculpa, explicando que el papel arrugado era en realidad una decoración, uno de los bollos falsos que las panaderías usan en sus exhibiciones y que había sido empacado por accidente.

The embarrassed baker offered him a real cream-filled bun as an apology, explaining that the crumpled paper was actually a decoration, one of the fake buns that bakeries use in their displays and had been packed by accident.

El señor Smith se despidió con una sonrisa, feliz de haber resuelto el misterio y con el estómago finalmente satisfecho. Desde entonces, cada vez que visitaba la panadería, recordaban aquel divertido malentendido y se reían juntos, compartiendo una conexión especial entre el inglés aventurero y el amable panadero español.

Mr. Smith bid farewell with a smile, happy to have solved the mystery and with his stomach finally satisfied. From then on, every time he visited the bakery, they remembered that funny misunderstanding and laughed together, sharing a special connection between the adventurous Englishman and the kind Spanish baker.
